About Our Community
Our group was established in 2016 with the aim to assist people in our community who suffer potentially life-threatening medical emergencies such as Cardiac Arrest, Heart Attack, Stroke or Choking.
We are all locally-based, trained volunteers and work in partnership with the National Ambulance Service (NAS).
Over time our geographical area has expanded beyond our origins in Shankill and Ballybrack. We now provide a CFR service to Bray (north), Shankill, Ballybrack, Glenageary, Kiliney, Loughlinstown, Cherrywood, Cabinteely, Carrickmines, Ballyogan and Kilternan.
In December 2023 our role was expanded by NAS to include First Aid Responder (FAR) calls. This includes medical incidents involving Falls, Sprains, Cuts, Breaks, Burns etc.
Typically, our responders can get to an incident the first vital minutes, often before an ambulance arrives providing the quickest possible treatment for the patient.
This is especially critical for acute cardiac events such as a cardiac arrest where it is unlikely a person will survive without CPR and the application of an AED within the first 10 minutes of the onset of cardiac arrest.
What We Do
We provide a First Responder service in partnership with the National Ambulance Service (NAS) in response to 999/112 calls involving time-critical, potentially life-threatening medical emergencies. Our role is to stabilize the patient and provide appropriate care until members of NAS arrive on scene.
Increasing Public Awareness
We run information & training events on recognising & dealing with heart attack, cardiac arrest, stroke and choking, incl. effective CPR & use of an AED.
Public Access Defibrillators
Our group and others, have installed and maintain Public Access Defibrillators for public use, accessible 24×7. Find out where they are located.
